World Art #3

I am not sure if I can pin point a piece of art that I have disliked because I am sure that is a lot...but while I was in NYC for thanksgiving I visited MoMa with my family. There was an instillation that my dad really wanted to see, as we stepped into the room right in front of us was a shark in a plastic rectangle. I was very taken aback from this and although I'm not sure if the shark was real or not, it was still wrong.

I cannot find a picture for this but it was a shocking experience.

World Art #2

Having a photographer as a father, I have been dragged to gallery after gallery. Eventually my brother and I complained so much that we slowly stopped going to every single gallery seen on vacation. Yet this piece that I am about to introduce was not seen in a museum. I was in London with my mother in 7th grade for spring vacation. As we head back to our hotel in a taxi, we went around a round about. In the center there was a bronze statue. It stood tall and was simply beautiful. I had to ask what it was and our taxi driver said it stood for "peace".

World Art #1

John Singer Sargent's painting "The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit", hangs in the MFA. As a little girl my parents would cart me around the museum in my stroller and I would always request to see it. Something about the way he shadows the girls in the back yet makes every single one of them look like they are alive and breathing shows amazing talent.

Influence #5

I've always enjoyed art class but have always hated galleries. Although my hatred towards a building that hold very interesting and expensive art, I've fallen head over heels for the ICA located in the South of Boston. The shows are always beautiful and interesting. A specific exhibition I have liked the most is Anthropocene Extinction. The work is so different and interesting.

Influence #4

: Their music definitely talks for itself

Bon Iver is my go to music. Especially after seeing them live. One would expect them to be a soft acoustic show but it was more rock and roll  and it took me by surprise. Plus Justin Vernon is my celeb crush...

Influence #3

My French friend passed along this great link which contains the content of his photographs. Something about them just speak to me, perhaps it is because the friends he shoots are young as well as the photos. Below is his link and a couple of photos that I have dubbed my favorite.

Influence #2

"Everything is more beautiful because we are doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again."
-Homer, The Iliad

The poem above is so simplistic and gorgeously written.

Influence #1

Joshua Radin found me 3 years ago during the month of June. For some reason I was torn over a boy who had left for two weeks to go to Europe with his family (2 weeks as I have found, is really not that long). While scrolling through iTunes, I spotted the song "Closer" and for some reason my fingers brought the mouse over to it and pressed play. I fell heads over heels for his music and remain a strong fan today. His music has not only influenced my moods, but its also the beauty I have found in his lyrics and melodies.
